FTP Tutorial -- How to FTP a file using FileZilla

• What is FTP?
• File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a network protocol used to transfer data from one computer to another through a network such as the Internet. Or simply, FTP is a way to transfer files from one computer to another over the Internet.

The following is tutorial on how to send files from your computer to another computer. You need 3 pieces of information to send a file via FTP:

1. FTP Server name
2. Username
3. Password

Note: The FTP Server name is not case-sensitive, usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.

To begin this tutorial, locate the above 3 pieces of information and keep them handy.

STEP 1.  Download and Install an FTP client like FileZilla

Install the FileZilla FTP client

STEP 2.

Copy the FTP link from step 2 in the email as shown below:

 Paste the entire link into the Host field as shown below:

Click 'Quickconnect'.

 STEP 3.

If the password is correct, you will get a 'Directory listing successful' message as shown below.

Next, browse to the ZIP file you want to send on the left side of the screen.

Select the ZIP file, right-click on the filename and click 'Upload'.

The bottom of the screen will show you information on the transfer and the amount of time left.

 STEP 4.

Once transfer completes, you will get the 'File transfer successful' message and the file you sent will be on the right-hand side of the screen.

Next, send us an email with the following information:

• a. The name of the file(s) you uploaded.
• b. Administrator passwords needed to open the files.
• c. For QuickBooks recoveries: please also include the error code and the version of QuickBooks you are using.
  (Note: We will not start analyzing your file until we receive this email.)
